In a turn of events, the Salsa dance community in Apollo, Germany, has secured their right to continue dancing at the town's roundabout, following a temporary permit issue.

The journey began on July 12th, when a public order office ended the dance session due to a noise complaint, as the organizers could not present a permit for the event. However, the love for dancing and the support from the community did not wane.

For years, Michael Schwanke and his fellow Salsa enthusiasts have been gathering at the roundabout of Apollo, bringing joy and rhythm to the town. Despite the temporary setback, they responded by turning to the press and starting an online petition.

In a recent meeting held at the town hall on July 16th, the situation was clarified. The Salsa dance event must be registered, as a public area is being used. Michael Schwanke expressed relief, as a settlement has been reached quickly, and they will obtain the permit.

The city has assured that the group can continue dancing at the roundabout of Apollo. The only exception is the next weekend (18-20 July), as it will be very crowded due to the Rhine carnival and the fireworks on Friday.

To help event organizers like Michael Schwanke, the city has initiated a Competence Center for Event Management. This centre can provide advice on what to consider, permit requirements, and restrictions. More information and contact details can be found here.

The increased number of dancers, despite the initial issue, is a testament to the community's passion for Salsa. Many people have spoken out in support of the dancers, reinforcing the joy and camaraderie that the dance brings to the town.

Despite the revised security concept in 2023 that forced them to move from their original location, the Salsa dancers of Apollo remain undeterred. They continue to bring their love for dance to the town, one rhythm at a time.

On the days not occupied by the Rhine carnival and fireworks, the Salsa dance community eagerly anticipates their weekly outdoor-living events at the roundabout, reviving the heart of Apollo with their rhythmic lifestyle. To aid in the permit process and maintain the harmony of home-and-garden, the city has established a Competence Center for Event Management, offering valuable insights to organizers like Michael Schwanke.
