Dumbleton Hall, a Historic Country House Hotel, to Reopen Under New Management

After a period of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dumbleton Hall, a Grade II* listed country house hotel, is set to reopen its doors on 17th May. The hotel, located near picturesque Cotswold villages and towns such as Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, and the Slaughters, has a rich history dating back over 400 years.

Originally built in 1534, Dumbleton Hall was the home of the Cocks family for over 200 years. However, after the death of Sir Richard Cocks in the late 18th century, the hall fell into disrepair. In 1959, the property was acquired by POFR (Post Office Fellowship of Remembrance). The rebuilt Dumbleton Hall, using Cotswold stone, was a classic country house for the Eyres family. Notable visitors during this period included Sir John Betjeman and the Mitford sisters.

In 1995, Dumbleton Hall opened to the general public as a hotel. The current owner, who acquired the hotel last year and is not publicly disclosed, has appointed Bespoke Hotels to manage the property. Before this, the hotel was owned by a US-based buyer.

Bespoke Hotels, known for their unique and individually designed properties, are excited about their new addition. Haydn Fentum, Chairman of Bespoke Hotels, commented on the appointment: "We are delighted to welcome Dumbleton Hall to the Bespoke family."

The hotel offers a restaurant, lounge, bar, and function rooms for weddings, private celebrations, and meetings. With 38 individually-designed bedrooms, guests can expect a comfortable and unique stay.

Following government COVID-19 guidelines, Dumbleton Hall will reopen with safety measures in place to ensure the wellbeing of both staff and guests. The hotel will once again be welcoming overnight guests, diners, and couples celebrating their weddings.

Set amidst 19 acres of parkland and featuring an ornamental lake, Dumbleton Hall offers a tranquil and picturesque setting for a relaxing getaway or special occasion. With its rich history and charming surroundings, Dumbleton Hall is a must-visit for anyone exploring the Cotswolds.
