Experience a literary feast: CityReading unleashes its magic in Neuwied until June 8th!

Wind and rain couldn't keep the literature enthusiasts away from the grand event—the much-anticipated arrival of CityReading at our city. And rightfully so, as this is the premier visit of this esteemed mobile literature festival to our humble town.

"Prepare to immerse yourself in a fantastical realm of stories and imagination," declared Mayor Jan Einig at the grand opening. Indeed, reading provides a unique power, allowing our minds to soar beyond boundaries. For kids, it plays a pivotal role in boosting language skills and positively impacting their educational journey. Now, as CityReading graces Neuwied with countless opportunities for young audiences, particularly the captivating storytelling readings from the Neuwied City Library, we couldn't be more pleased!

Joining Einig was Kai Uwe Ritter, a representative of the organizing partners of the city of Neuwied—the Lions Club Neuwied-Andernach and the Deichstadtfriends. He hailed the extraordinary cooperation with the Department of City Marketing in planning this monumental event. Then came the first thrilling highlight of CityReading, an enthralling reading by the born-and-raised-in-Neuwied author, Jasna Mittler, as she shared excerpts from her celebrated work, "Blue Eye." A captivating tale that weaves together the neighboring Eifel's history and sends its protagonist, Hanna, on a 200-year time journey unraveling family secrets and a mysterious gemstone.

Transformed into an impromptu open-air library, the Neuwied Market Square hosts over 3000 books across various genres, ensuring an irresistible reading binge for everyone. Whether young or old, there's something to tickle your literary taste buds at CityReading! The event is sponsored by Sparkasse Neuwied, VR Bank RheinAhrEifel, and Stadtwerke Neuwied. Even if the weather betrays us, don't worry—they've covered that, too. The CityReading program will shift indoors to the city library, just a stone's throw away from the market square.
