City Hall expresses gratitude for your dedication towards the 2025 honorary service.
In the heart of Dormagen, the Cultural Court Knechtsteden played host to the Volunteer Reception 2025 on August 31. Over 500 volunteers gathered to celebrate their commitment and learn about new opportunities to give back to the community.
Mayor Erik Lierenfeld, in his welcoming speech, emphasised the importance of volunteering in Dormagen. He highlighted a new initiative, BrotZeit NRW, which offers a free breakfast for children at three elementary schools daily. This initiative aims to ensure no child starts the day on an empty stomach.
The event was filled with music, courtesy of Michael Singendonk, who provided the musical program. The crowd was also entertained by Jürgen "Archie" Deneke, who performed as Udo Lindenberg.
Information booths were set up for guests to explore volunteering opportunities further. TSV Bayer Dormagen e.V. distributed free tickets for the next home game of the handball second division team, encouraging more community engagement.
The city administration, along with the Stadtbad and Verkehrsgesellschaft (SVGD), supported the event. Guests included Bernd Gellrich from the Diakonie and Martin Voigt from Currenta, who were there to show their appreciation for the volunteers.

Mayor Lierenfeld also spoke about the expansion of Senior Lunch Tables in the city area, with opportunities available in ten districts for seniors to have lunch once a week and engage in conversation.
The Volunteer Reception 2025 was a testament to the vibrant community spirit in Dormagen. It was a celebration of the volunteers' dedication and a call to action for more people to join and make a difference in their community.
