This strategic planning journey, following collective chats and heated debates, outlines the creation of a city-wide cycling network. This network, designed to interconnect residential hotspots, work hubs, schools, public hangouts, and retail districts, includes 150 km of primary bike trails and 415 km of secondary ones.
More than just smooth rides, the Velo Masterplan promises slick supporting infrastructure such as bike racks, dedicated parking, traffic law clarification, and safe travel routes.
"With Velo Masterplan's completion, we're venturing into uncharted territory," Stelian Bujduveanu gleefully announced on June 11th. "After a whirlwind of work, dialogues, and debates, the document is primed for the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest's approval."
Translating the bike lane blueprints into reality will be a team effort between Bucharest's City Hall and its sectoral administrations. Following that council nod, feasibility studies will kick off.
So, let's hit the ground running; a joint City Hall and sectoral admin collaboration awaits to build Bucharest's new cycling dreamscape!
Stay tuned for more updates; we'll keep you posted as the project progresses!
