Bright and vibrant colors mark the initial stages of the golf course during the summer season.
At Martin-Luther-Platz, the preparations are in full swing! Some stages are already in place, and the entrance from Martin-Luther-Straße via Bautzner Straße is blocked off, with the Pulsnitzer shuttered for a while. The Synthēse association is quite busy, as the "Bunter Sommer Neustadt" street festival is making a comeback to our neighborhood from June 13 to June 15. The event serves as a continuation of the birthday celebrations of the former "Bunte Republik Neustadt", established 35 years ago, although it's seen a bit of a lull since 2020.
This volunteer-run event hosted by Synthēse e.V. boasts a fully alive neighborhood festival with a thrilling cultural program. New this year are four stages, including one on the closed Pulsnitzer Straße that will showcase music and local artists. To speed up service and reduce waiting times, an additional bar will be available.
The festival hours are: Friday 6 pm to 11:30 pm, Saturday 11 am to 11:30 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 10 pm. During the festival, traffic and parking on Martin-Luther-Platz will be halted. The stage program is accessible online since May 26 and can also be found in various Neustadt bars and cafes.
Vibrant Offerings
Highlights of the festival include various band performances in the Böhmische Straße courtyard. On Friday, catch the combo "7ieben" on the culture stage at 7:15 pm, followed by "Los Barricos" around 8:30 pm and later "Meniak" with ska and Balkan beats. Meanwhile, "Die kleine Nachtigall" is set for Martin-Luther-Kirche, featuring experimental sound collages and improvisation in spatial sound with an intercultural background.
Saturday kicks off with yoga and circus arts, with the tower of Martin-Luther-Kirche open for the brave-hearted, and a Salvador Dalí exhibition in the community house. On the culture stage, you'll find hard rock with "Amptray" at 2:45 pm, followed by the Dresden pub choir performing on the meadow stage at 4:15 pm. Samba Universo is not to be missed at 6:30 pm. The evening will be concluding with Konrad Küchenmeister's performance at 9:15 pm in front of the church.
On Sunday, indulge in a traditional BRN breakfast from 10 am, followed by a guided tour of the old Jewish cemetery and a puppet show on the meadow stage. Festivities continue with folk music by Riley&Voltz on the culture stage, as well as the opportunity to visit exhibitions and the tower. The festival will wind down peacefully around 10 pm.
