Bizarre Weekend Celebration Holds in City's Cemeteries

Let's Roll with Dresden's All Souls' Day Events

Gear up for an unforgettable day paying respects at Dresden's cemeteries during All Souls' Day! The city's got some spine-tingling services, concerts, and more, all happening at your favorite graveyards.

Kick off the festivities at 1 PM sharp with the Apostelkirche's brass choir jammin' outside the funeral hall at the Heidefriedhof, located at Moritzburger Landstraße 299. After that, Pastor Thomas Markert from the Laurentius Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dresden will lead a heartfelt church service right in the funeral hall of the Heidefriedhof.

At 2:30 PM, head over to the historic crematorium at the Urnenhain Tolkewitz, Wehlener Straße 15, for another poignant memorial service featuring guest speaker Marion Wagner.

And if that isn't enough morbid fun, the "Friedhofsfreunde Dölzschen e. V." association—led by the smart cookies at Prof. Karl-Heinz Koch’s lab—invites you to a memorial service at 11 AM in the funeral hall of the Dölzschen Cemetery, Friedhofsweg 1.

Best of all? All these spooktacular events are completely free, and no reservations are required. Plus, you can chat up the cemetery staff if your curiosity gets the better of you.

Once the heavy stuff's over, it's time to embrace the holiday season! The Advent season begins in the coming week, and there'll be plenty of Christmas markets popping up all over Dresden: the Striezelmarkt and Augustusmarkt on the Neumarket open on Wednesday, and it starts on Thursday.
