Biysk's Major Utility Repairs Aim to Minimize Disruption and Prepare for Heating Season
Biysk, a city in Altai Krai, Russia, is currently undergoing extensive utility repairs and landscaping works. The city council and energy companies are working together to ensure these projects are completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to residents.
Large-scale repairs are currently underway in Biysk, with 'digging' taking place in various areas. The city's energy companies, responsible for almost the entire city's heat and hot water supply, are replacing and repairing heat networks under investment and repair programs. This year, 6.6 km of utilities are being worked on, with approximately 7,000 square meters of asphalt to be restored afterwards. However, the city council has expressed concern about the number of open orders for earthworks, which they aim to minimize.
The upcoming heating season is a top priority. Compared to the previous season, damages during hydraulic tests have increased by 50%, mainly due to aging infrastructure and improved testing quality. Igor Luzanov, the general director of AO 'SGK-Altai', discussed these challenges with the city council. He explained that energy companies must conduct hydrotests, identify weak spots, plan repairs, and clean up in a short construction season, which begins in the spring when there is still snow on the ground.
Funding for landscaping works after repair works in Biysk is planned to be about 26.5 million rubles this year and 35-40 million rubles in the next year. SGC plans to enhance collaboration with neighboring structures and minimize unclosed earthworks orders over the next three years. The city council and energy companies are committed to ensuring that repairs are completed efficiently, with a focus on minimizing disruption to residents and preparing for the upcoming heating season.
