In the heart of the Italian Alps, a mechanical technician named Bruno Quazzola has been recognised for his unwavering dedication to mountain culture and alpine traditions. The Valsesian section of the Alpini, a renowned Italian mountain infantry corps, bestowed upon him the "Fidelity to the Mountain" prize for the 2025 edition.

Bruno, a 32-year-old shepherd from Carcoforo, lives on an alpine pasture, resides outdoors, and takes care of animals. His days are filled with the minimal stress and immense joy that comes from working in harmony with nature.

The "Fidelity to the Mountain" prize is given to individuals who have a deep and enduring connection to the mountains of Valsesia. This year, it was Bruno's turn to receive this prestigious honour, a testament to the strength and attachment he bears for the mountains that have shaped him since childhood.

On Sunday, August 30, the event will take place at Alpe Pianelli, reachable in 50 minutes of walking. The day will begin with a meeting at 9:30 AM at the central parking of Carcoforo, followed by a short hike that leads to the alpine pasture.

At 10:00 AM, there will be a parade in Carcoforo, the raising of the flag, and honour to the Fallen. The solemn moment of welcoming participants will take place at 9:15 AM at the sports field. Mass and the award ceremony will follow at 10:30 AM, after which an alpine lunch organised by the group of black feathers from Carcoforo-Rima-Rimasco will be served.

During the 2 days, the Mini Summer Camp will also take place, organized by the Young Commission of the section. Visitors can get to know Bruno and his passion right where it all begins, at 1750 meters of altitude, where Bruno's agricultural company Brüc brings the animals for the summer.

Elena, Bruno's sister and the company's cheesemaker, will welcome visitors with the scent of polenta cooked over the fire and her cheese. The day promises to be a celebration of authenticity, a chance for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich mountain culture of Valsesia.

Reservations can be made by contacting 340.1053145 or 348.8756522. It is a passion that thrives in the face of adversity, finding strength in the challenges and hardships of the mountains.

In this celebration of mountain culture, Elena, Bruno's sister, will share her homemade cheese and polenta, showcasing the home-and-garden lifestyle embedded in their family's alpine living. Moreover, visiting the outdoor-living environment of Bruno's alpine pasture during the Mini Summer Camp offers an opportunity to delve into the sports and lifestyle that reflects his deep-rooted passion for the mountains.
