Anticipated launch of New Algarve Market slated for summer season

Barnacle your peepers here! The long-awaited project in Loulé City Council's calendar has finally been given the nod to proceed. It's the third phase of the Passeio das Dunas redevelopment, and you better believe it's a whopper! They're planning to construct a brand-spanking-new Municipal Market, baby!

That's right, this bad boy's gonna be a mainstay of the local economy and a magnet for tourism. It's going to be a freakin' architectural marvel worth gawking at, not just in our pretty little Loulé, but across the whole region and nation. So, buckle up, buttercup, as we dive into the deets!

This puppy covers approximately 15,000 square metres, and it's gonna pack a punch. You'll find parking for 224 cars on floors -1 and -2, a Fish Market with 24 stalls, a Fruit and Vegetable Market with the same number of stalls, a Food Court Market with 10 food spaces, six stores, eight kiosks, two offices or coworking spaces, and a whopping 100 parking spots in the outdoor area.

With a total of 66 commercial spaces, including stalls, kiosks, restaurants, and stores, this market's no slouch when it comes to offering variety. And let's not forget the traditional market functions we all know and love – but with a modern twist added, Mwa-ha-ha!

The project's price tag? Approximately €20 million, with a squeaky-clean three and a half years for construction. Pop the champers, y'all – construction is expected to begin this summer!

Now, you might be wondering why there's been a smidge of delay. Well, the eagle-eyed folks at Loulé Council studied the rise in the average sea level, introduced some nifty changes, and finally, we're back on track to boost the economy and make tourism tingly!

The newly constructed Municipal Market in Loulé City Council is set to become a significant attraction for tourism, drawing attention not just within the region, but nationwide. With an architectural marvel design, it's bound to be a focal point, offering a variety of commercial spaces including stalls, kiosks, restaurants, and stores. The project, expected to cost around €20 million, will span over 15,000 square metres, featuring parking for cars, numerous market sections, offices, and coworking spaces. Construction is set to commence this summer, following a minor delay due to considerations regarding the rise in average sea level.
