Rollwitz, a charming town nestled in the Uecker-Randow-Tal region, celebrated its 650th anniversary over the weekend with a festive event organised by Dorfclub Rollwitz.

The two-day festival took place on Friday and Saturday, kicking off with a parade led by the Rossow Schalmeien. Around 150 people participated in the parade, adding a lively atmosphere to the occasion.

The popular raft race had to be cancelled on Friday due to a massive infestation of blue-green algae in the small pond. However, the organisers quickly came up with an alternative: a three-person ski event. The municipal worker assembled the boards for the event overnight, ensuring the fun continued.

The festival was filled with various activities, including performances by the kindergartens Parkspatzen from Rollwitz and the Klinikzwerge from Pasewalk. Farmer Hellwig and the live band "Die Landstricher" also graced the stage, entertaining the crowd with their music.

A hit night was arranged for the older generation, while a children's disco kept the younger attendees entertained. The festival tent was completely full at times during the festival, indicating the high level of interest and enjoyment.

The town's football team, SV Rollwitz, was honoured and inscribed into the Golden Book of the Uecker-Randow-Tal administration on Saturday.

In a humorous twist, when the traditional raft race was cancelled, a playful event called the "tire float" was organised. Instead of racing on rafts, participants floated down the water using old tires, adding a fun and amusing twist to the celebrations.

The festival concluded with a dance in the evening, and Pyrofox from Pasewalk provided a spectacular fireworks display to end the festivities on a high note. Around 800 guests were counted during the festival on Saturday.

The Rollwitz 650th anniversary festival was a memorable event, showcasing the town's spirit and the community's ability to adapt and create fun in the face of challenges.

Despite the cancellation of the traditional raft race, the festival found a creative alternative, transforming interest in home-and-garden activities with the three-person ski event. The festivities also included a display of the town's vibrant lifestyle, as demonstrated by the performance of the kindergarten Parkspatzen from Rollwitz.
