Ten years since its planting by a local war veteran, a thriving garden in Zhagalau-3 is meticulously tended by dedicated young judo practitioners.

A garden serving as a mnemonic device.

In the heart of the Jagaulau-3 microdistrict, you'll find a thriving garden that was born a decade ago under the tender care of a revered local hero, a World War II veteran named Kadyrbek BEKENOV. Despite his warrior past, adored by the community for his kindness, diligence, and compassion, Kadyrbek-ata became a symbol of peace in this vibrant neighborhood.

Situated at house No. 11 on Omarova Street, this respected elder was known to have been decorated with esteemed honors: the Order of the Patriotic War I and II degree, the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of Glory III degree, medals "For Military Merit", "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the Capture of Berlin", "For Victory over Germany". Yet, it was his spirit and love for the local children that truly endeared him to the community. As such, the children formed an unbreakable bond with him.

As the Jagaulau microdistrict started taking shape, Kadyrbek Bekenov led the charge in beautifying the area, planting shrubs, trees, and flowers near his residence. Inspired by his daily efforts, the 7-8-year-old judoists from the Stars of Sport martial arts club felt compelled to lend a helping hand. This act of kindness marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

The friendship between the coach, Nurlan AMANOV, the boys, and Kadyrbek-ata, was strong but short-lived. In January 2017, Kadyrbek-ata passed away, leaving behind cherished memories. In his honor, a tranquil garden was left standing near his house, tended to by the students of the Stars of Sport martial arts club. Each year, they planted new saplings to remember their esteemed elder, mentor, and kind friend. Today, many of these boys are now 17-18 years old and are training the younger ones themselves. Every day, on their way to training, they pause to pay their respects to their dear friend.

Although there is limited public information available on Kadyrbek Bekenov, his story is preserved deep within the heart of the Jagaulau-3 microdistrict and the Stars of Sport martial arts club. If you are lucky enough to meet someone with detailed knowledge of this war hero's life, they may be able to share more about Kadyrbek Bekenov and his unique connection to the Stars of Sport club.

The thriving garden near house No. 11 on Omarova Street, a testament to Kadyrbek Bekenov's love for home-and-garden, continues to serve as a symbol of peace and family-dynamics in the Jagaulau-3 microdistrict. Gardeners from the Stars of Sport martial arts club, inspired by their mentor's connections and compassion, tend to the garden each year, planting new life in memory of Kadyrbek-ata. His influence on relationships, both within the community and his mentorship of the young judoists, remains strong and profound.
